Fascinated by the blue and white floral motifs, welcome swallows and historical iconography, delftware has always held a fond place in my memory. I look at it differently now to when I was young, my curiosity takes me on the journey. I watch as it rambles its way from Antwerp in the 1600's on the back of the Dutch East India company, adorning tearooms of polite society in the 1700's, where conversations of conquering new worlds were had. Delftware metaphorically speaking represents sovereignty, I wonder how many cups were broken in the pursuit of obscene wealth.
